## list

List all guardrails for the authenticated user. [Management key](https://openrouter.ai/docs/client-sdks/python/docs/guides/overview/auth/management-api-keys) required.

### Example Usage

```python theme={null}
from openrouter import OpenRouter
import os
with OpenRouter(
    http_referer="<value>",
    x_open_router_title="<value>",
    x_open_router_categories="<value>",
    api_key=os.getenv("OPENROUTER_API_KEY", ""),
) as open_router:
    res = open_router.guardrails.list(offset=0, limit=50)
    while res is not None:
        # Handle items
        res = res.next()
```

### Parameters

| Parameter | Type | Required | Description | Example |
| - | - | - | - | - |
| `http_referer` | *Optional\[str]* | ➖ | The app identifier should be your app's URL and is used as the primary identifier for rankings. This is used to track API usage per application. | |
| `x_open_router_title` | *Optional\[str]* | ➖ | The app display name allows you to customize how your app appears in OpenRouter's dashboard.  | |
| `x_open_router_categories` | *Optional\[str]* | ➖ | Comma-separated list of app categories (e.g. "cli-agent,cloud-agent"). Used for marketplace rankings.  | |
| `offset` | *OptionalNullable\[int]* | ➖ | Number of records to skip for pagination | 0 |
| `limit` | *Optional\[int]* | ➖ | Maximum number of records to return (max 100) | 50 |
| `workspace_id` | *Optional\[str]* | ➖ | Filter guardrails by workspace ID. By default, guardrails in the default workspace are returned. | 0df9e665-d932-5740-b2c7-b52af166bc11 |
| `retries` | [Optional\[utils.RetryConfig\]](../../models/utils/retryconfig.mdx) | ➖ | Configuration to override the default retry behavior of the client. | |

### Response

**[operations.ListGuardrailsResponse](../../operations/listguardrailsresponse.mdx)**

### Errors

| Error Type | Status Code | Content Type |
| - | - | - |
| errors.BadRequestResponseError | 400 | application/json |
| errors.UnauthorizedResponseError | 401 | application/json |
| errors.ForbiddenResponseError | 403 | application/json |
| errors.InternalServerResponseError | 500 | application/json |
| errors.OpenRouterDefaultError | 4XX, 5XX | \*/\* |

## create

Create a new guardrail for the authenticated user. A newly created guardrail enforces nothing until it is assigned to API keys or organization members; `workspace_id` places the guardrail in a workspace but does not apply it to that workspace's traffic. To restrict all traffic in a workspace, update the workspace's default guardrail instead. Set `allowed_data_regions` to enforce [In-Region Routing](https://openrouter.ai/docs/client-sdks/python/docs/guides/features/in-region-routing#enforcing-in-region-routing-with-guardrails): governed requests must arrive through one of the listed OpenRouter domains and are rejected with a 403 otherwise. [Management key](https://openrouter.ai/docs/client-sdks/python/docs/guides/overview/auth/management-api-keys) required.

### Example Usage

```python theme={null}
from openrouter import OpenRouter
import os
with OpenRouter(
    http_referer="<value>",
    x_open_router_title="<value>",
    x_open_router_categories="<value>",
    api_key=os.getenv("OPENROUTER_API_KEY", ""),
) as open_router:
    res = open_router.guardrails.create(name="My New Guardrail", allowed_data_regions=[
        "europe",
    ], allowed_models=None, allowed_providers=[
        "openai",
        "anthropic",
        "deepseek",
    ], description="A guardrail for limiting API usage", enforce_zdr_anthropic=True, enforce_zdr_google=False, enforce_zdr_openai=True, enforce_zdr_other=False, enforce_zdr_xai=False, ignored_models=None, ignored_providers=None, limit_usd=50.0, reset_interval="monthly")
    # Handle response
    print(res)
```

### Parameters

| Parameter | Type | Required | Description | Example |
| - | - | - | - | - |
| `name` | *str* | ✔️ | Name for the new guardrail | My New Guardrail |
| `http_referer` | *Optional\[str]* | ➖ | The app identifier should be your app's URL and is used as the primary identifier for rankings. This is used to track API usage per application. | |
| `x_open_router_title` | *Optional\[str]* | ➖ | The app display name allows you to customize how your app appears in OpenRouter's dashboard.  | |
| `x_open_router_categories` | *Optional\[str]* | ➖ | Comma-separated list of app categories (e.g. "cli-agent,cloud-agent"). Used for marketplace rankings.  | |
| `allow_safety_retention_google` | *OptionalNullable\[bool]* | ➖ | Whether ZDR-only requests to google/\* models may also use Safety Retention endpoints, which may retain prompts and responses from any request, only to prevent abuse, and do not use them for training. false allows only ZDR endpoints. A guardrail can only be more restrictive than the account setting. Inherits the account setting when not provided. | true |
| `allow_safety_retention_other` | *OptionalNullable\[bool]* | ➖ | Whether ZDR-only requests to models outside the named providers (for example open-weight models on Vertex) may also use Safety Retention endpoints, which may retain prompts and responses from any request, only to prevent abuse, and do not use them for training. false allows only ZDR endpoints. A guardrail can only be more restrictive than the account setting. Inherits the account setting when not provided. | true |
| `allowed_data_regions` | List\[[components.GuardrailDataRegion](../../components/guardraildataregion.mdx)] | ➖ | Data regions through which requests governed by this guardrail must arrive. `global` is [https://openrouter.ai](https://openrouter.ai), `europe` is [https://eu.openrouter.ai](https://eu.openrouter.ai), and `us` is [https://us.openrouter.ai](https://us.openrouter.ai). Requests arriving through any other region are rejected. `null` leaves the ingress region unrestricted. When several guardrails apply (workspace default, member, API key), the effective regions are the intersection of every non-null value. An empty array is rejected. | \[ "europe" ] |
| `allowed_models` | List\[*str*] | ➖ | Array of model identifiers (slug or canonical\_slug accepted) | \[ "openai/gpt-5.2", "anthropic/claude-4.5-opus-20251124", "deepseek/deepseek-r1-0528:free" ] |
| `allowed_providers` | List\[*str*] | ➖ | List of allowed provider IDs | \[ "openai", "anthropic", "deepseek" ] |
| `content_filter_builtins` | List\[[components.ContentFilterBuiltinEntryInput](../../components/contentfilterbuiltinentryinput.mdx)] | ➖ | Builtin content filters to apply. Every builtin slug supports "block", "redact", and the detect-only "flag" action. | \[ \{ "action": "block", "slug": "regex-prompt-injection" } ] |
| `content_filters` | List\[[components.ContentFilterEntry](../../components/contentfilterentry.mdx)] | ➖ | Custom regex content filters to apply to request messages | \[ \{ "action": "redact", "label": "\[API\_KEY]", "pattern": "\b(sk-\[a-zA-Z0-9]\{48})\b" } ] |
| `description` | *OptionalNullable\[str]* | ➖ | Description of the guardrail | A guardrail for limiting API usage |
| `enable_free_model_publication` | *OptionalNullable\[bool]* | ➖ | Whether this guardrail allows free endpoints that publish prompts. | false |
| `enable_free_model_training` | *OptionalNullable\[bool]* | ➖ | Whether this guardrail allows free endpoints that train on request data. | true |
| `enable_paid_model_training` | *OptionalNullable\[bool]* | ➖ | Whether this guardrail allows paid endpoints that train on request data. | true |
| `enforce_first_party_harness_models` | *OptionalNullable\[bool]* | ➖ | Whether coding harnesses list only their vendor's own models: Codex lists OpenAI models and Claude Code and Claude Desktop list Anthropic models. Affects only the model list those harnesses request from GET /models; a model the client names directly is still routed. Any true across the workspace default, member, and API key guardrails applies. | false |
| `enforce_zdr` | *OptionalNullable\[bool]* | ➖ | ⚠️ **DEPRECATED**: This will be removed in a future release, please migrate away from it as soon as possible. Deprecated. Use enforce\_zdr\_anthropic, enforce\_zdr\_openai, enforce\_zdr\_google, enforce\_zdr\_xai, and enforce\_zdr\_other instead. When provided, its value is copied into any of those per-provider fields that are not explicitly specified on the request. | false |
| `enforce_zdr_anthropic` | *OptionalNullable\[bool]* | ➖ | Whether to enforce zero data retention for Anthropic models. Falls back to enforce\_zdr when not provided. | false |
| `enforce_zdr_google` | *OptionalNullable\[bool]* | ➖ | Whether to enforce zero data retention for Google models. Falls back to enforce\_zdr when not provided. | false |
| `enforce_zdr_openai` | *OptionalNullable\[bool]* | ➖ | Whether to enforce zero data retention for OpenAI models. Falls back to enforce\_zdr when not provided. | false |
| `enforce_zdr_other` | *OptionalNullable\[bool]* | ➖ | Whether to enforce zero data retention for models that are not from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, or xAI. Falls back to enforce\_zdr when not provided. | false |
| `enforce_zdr_xai` | *OptionalNullable\[bool]* | ➖ | Whether to enforce zero data retention for xAI models. Falls back to enforce\_zdr when not provided. | false |
| `ignored_models` | List\[*str*] | ➖ | Array of model identifiers to exclude from routing (slug or canonical\_slug accepted) | \[ "openai/gpt-4o-mini" ] |
| `ignored_providers` | List\[*str*] | ➖ | List of provider IDs to exclude from routing | \[ "azure" ] |
| `include_byok_in_budgets` | *Optional\[bool]* | ➖ | Whether BYOK (bring-your-own-key) inference spend counts toward this guardrail's limit\_usd, in addition to OpenRouter credit spend. Defaults to false. | false |
| `limit_usd` | *OptionalNullable\[float]* | ➖ | Spending limit in USD. Must be provided together with `reset_interval`: a request that sets only one of the two is rejected with a 400. | 50 |
| `reset_interval` | [OptionalNullable\[components.GuardrailInterval\]](../../components/guardrailinterval.mdx) | ➖ | Interval at which the limit resets (daily, weekly, monthly) | monthly |
| `workspace_id` | *Optional\[str]* | ➖ | The workspace to create the guardrail in. When omitted, the guardrail is created in the default workspace; if that default has been deleted, the request returns a 400 and you must pass `workspace_id` explicitly. This only places the guardrail in the workspace; the created guardrail enforces nothing for that workspace's traffic until it is assigned to API keys or members. To restrict all traffic in a workspace, update the workspace's default guardrail instead. | 0df9e665-d932-5740-b2c7-b52af166bc11 |
| `retries` | [Optional\[utils.RetryConfig\]](../../models/utils/retryconfig.mdx) | ➖ | Configuration to override the default retry behavior of the client. | |

## bulk\_assign\_keys

Assign multiple API keys to a specific guardrail. A key may hold at most one guardrail; assigning replaces any existing assignment. [Management key](https://openrouter.ai/docs/client-sdks/python/docs/guides/overview/auth/management-api-keys) required.

### Example Usage
